Without doubt, one of the best times of the year. Listen to a collection of scary and spooky Halloween poems as I recite them from a dark dungeon. Don`t turn off the light and remember the pillow.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Lesley Howarth and we spoke about poetry. Lesley kindly shared a selection of poems with me, which were written by her uncle. Now I have the pleasure of sharing them with you.
Henry Wolfenden Demain - 1919 - 1980
The poems were written whilst he was a prisoner of war for four years in Germany, from 1941 until 1945. He was aged 21 when he was captured and was repatriated just before his 26th birthday. They were written on any available scrap of paper and despite the conditions, he managed to keep them safe. Most of them were written in the last two years of the war, when he felt the urge to tell the story for all.
These poems put into words the deep feelings of any such prisoner and the philosophical way he had for thinking, `Over the Prison Gate`.

In this episode, you can listen to some of my 99 word stories and I also run through the alphabet, with a rhyme for each letter.

This episode is aimed at a younger audience, but will also inspire those who are just starting their writing journey. It may help with parents or grandparents who have started reading to their children or grandchildren.
Contains a few darker themes, but nothing too scary.

Books, authors, films and schooldays were all on the menu and we finally reached the subject of poetry. I really loved this interview, as Laura is so open and honest.
